After working on the Alpha and Beta 58-49 baskets, I wanted to explore further and push some variables further. In this blog you'll find updates regarding various prototypes of preimum baskets that I may or may not end up pursuing towards manufacturing batches for.

After testing this 58-30 basket for the last couple of days, I’m quite convinced I should develop this basket further. I’m calling this “high efficiency” because it seems to bring more flavours and more strength out of the small dose than other baskets like regular 58mm single dose baskets. Hoping to release it sometime in 2026 and let everyone else experience this!

Here’s footage of one of the very first shots I brewed with the 58-30mm prototype step-down basket I designed. The results are definitely very interesting. 8 grams in, 17g out. Dialling in is totally different. There’s an immense amount of resistance, and I’ve had to grind coarser and pull at a higher pressure than expected. The taste is stronger and less watery compared to the same dose on any of the other, larger diameter baskets, including traditional single shot baskets. This is all subjective though, and I’m waiting on a refractometer to arrive to at least give myself some quantifiable data moving forward.
