DDP Shipping to Some International Countries
As of June 5th, 2026, I am testing a new shipping system for orders destined to some international destinations. This applies to the following countries:
- Brazil
- Chile
- China
- Colombia
- Costa Rica
- Ecuador
- Egypt
- India
- Indonesia
- Israel
- Kuwait
- Malaysia
- Mexico
- Norway
- Oman
- Peru
- Philippines
- Saudi Arabia
- Switzerland

What’s changing
New orders are now processed under a delivery duty paid (DDP) model, meaning applicable duties and taxes are collected at checkout. This helps ensure a more predictable delivery experience with no unexpected fees upon arrival. The amount shown at checkout should represent the final amount payable.
Orders are now shipped exclusively via tracked services (FedEx or DHL). This replaces the previous Canada Post options, including Small Packet Air and Tracked Packet International. The key improvement is full end-to-end tracking and improved customs handling.
This change should also result in faster customs clearance and reduce the risk of missed contact attempts from customs authorities regarding duty or tax payments.
You may notice the shipping charge is a little more than the previous Canada Post costs, but the benefits below will explain why.
There are also many additional countries added as destinations that I am able to ship to directly now.
Why I’m making this change
Shipping to some international countries have been a consistent challenge since the shop launched in 2021. Until last month, Shopify did not support DDP shipments for international destinations (except for the US) for a Canadian shop like mine, which made it difficult to provide a fully predictable checkout experience.
Previously, shipments relied on postal services, which sometimes could not be tracked, involved slower customs processing that resulted in unpredictable additional taxes, duties, and handling/service fees, and at worst, got lost.
With Shopify now enabling DDP functionality for international destinations, I am taking the opportunity to trial a more reliable and transparent system.

The goal of this update is to simplify delivery, reduce unexpected costs, and improve reliability for some international customers.
