Duties For USA Orders Reduced
A temporary change was made around February 20 by the government of USA regarding its tariffs policy, making a big reduction in duties. For the time being, the duties for all orders going to the USA are now reduced to 10% (down from 35%). Since this change is temporary, this blog post may become outdated at any moment. The duty rates calculated at checkout after the address field is input will always be the most up-to-date.
I just wanted to clarify how duties are being handled.
Duty rates are set by the US government and are adhered to by Shopify and Canada Post. Because of this, I don’t have any ability to change or adjust the rates myself.
For orders that were placed and shipped before the duty rate changed, I unfortunately won’t be able to refund any duties. Those charges have already been paid to US Customs as part of the import process.
There is one exception, which is for US pre-orders that haven’t shipped yet (for example the 58–49 mm Beta baskets and accessories, or any other unshipped items in the same orders). If the duties you originally paid are higher than the rate in effect at the time the order actually ships, I will be able to refund the difference.
